Italian American Perfect Heritage Heart Tee
The country on one hand, the town nobody else has heard of in the family stories.

Green, white and red, held against the Stars and Stripes
The left hand wears the American flag, stars on blue out along the forearm and red and white stripes over the fingers. The right hand wears Italy: a strong green band down the inner side over the curled fingers, white through the middle of the hand, and red along the outer edge and out along the forearm. Three vertical bands, equal, nothing else. The two hands close into a heart and the middle is left open and black. PERFECT HERITAGE sits below in thin white capitals across the chest.
Who it’s for
Seventeen million Americans of Italian descent, and the ones who still say the name of the town rather than the country. Bensonhurst, the North End, Federal Hill, and every kitchen where Sunday sauce starts before ten in the morning. It works for a nonna, for a grandson who has never crossed the Atlantic, and for the cousin who did the trip last summer and came back different.
The detail that matters
The three bands are equal, which is what the real flag does and what most prints get wrong by widening the white. Look at where the green meets the palm: the edge is clean, not blurred, so the flag reads as a flag rather than a smear of color. The whole series is drawn that way, beginning with the Guatemalan American Perfect Heritage Heart Tee.
